Fabulous warm welcome and the very BEST poached eggs! Extremely comfortable bed in Room 1. Loved our couple of nights on Arran. Looking forward to coming back next year on our way to the Wee Toon over the water.

Tips:

The Brodick Bar and Brasserie is excellent for food. We were lucky enough to join in their inaugural Wine Tasting session. Fantastic food and beautiful Argentinian wines. Very friendly staff. The Fiddlers Arms on a Tuesday is steak night (as of Oct 2018) with rib-eye steak which was cooked to perfection and a good bottle of wine. To do: Brodick Castle is fascinating - go on one of the tours than run in the day for free. Goatfell - a wonderful walk, not for the faint-hearted but do-able. Watch the weather!

We had a fabulous stay at Hunters Guest House and would happily stay again. The snug is a great facility to have alongside the room facilities. Caroline and the staff were lovely and friendly. We had a sea view room which was totally worth it. We enjoyed sitting in the window admiring the views whilst having my morning cuppa and in the afternoon with a wee drinkiepoo as a reward from a day's walking.

Tips:

I'm vegan and never had any bother finding something to eat on the island regardless of mealtime which was a lovely surprise.

Lovely room with a view of the beach, bay, the castle and Goatfell mountain. Although this guesthouse is situated along the main road trough Brodick traffic dies down at night and we didn’t have any issues about noise from cars and/or people.

Tips:

Several good restaurants, from pub to fine dining in the area. Nice walks along the beach and a perfect place to start your climb of Goatfell.

This was our 2nd stay at Hunters Guest House. Both Caroline and Debbie offer a friendly and helpful service. Caroline the owner even phoned us the night before our trip to warn us of disruptions on the ferry which influenced our time of travel. Debbie is an expert on any of the walks within Arran and offers friendly information. Paying a little extra to get the rooms at the front of the b & b is well worth it to get those amazing views of the bay. Another plus of this b & b is that it has a snug. The snug has a fridge, microwave and a private eating/tv area. Perfect for when you don’t wish to eat in a local restaurant.

Tips:

The walks are amazing!

Such a friendly welcome when we arrived.Room was so clean and bed very comfortable. Good selection of food at breakfast. There is a snug for customers to use with full kitchen facilities and a seating area. We never used this but thought it was a great idea for those not wanting to go out all the time and not made to feel guilty about bringing food back to the guest house. We will be back!

Tips:

Lots of good walks from the door and such a good location if coming without a car. 5 mins walk from the ferry terminal. Fiddlers, a few doors along, has music nights on a Friday and Saturday and has a lovely, friendly atmosphere. There is a lovely walk along the beach and skirting the golf course along to Brodick Castle and Gardens. We watched red squirrels from a hide within the gardens and had a quality lunch at The Wineport nearby.

We stayed from Mon to Fri and really enjoyed our time in the Guest house. The staff are so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. There was a great choice from the breakfast buffet and then if you wanted a cooked breakfast you put in an order the night before. Piping hot and plenty of it.The Snug was such a handy place with microwave for heating up take aways or ready meals. Ideal for a lazy night in.

Tips:

Loved the area, there are restaurants near by, booking advisable though as they can get busy. Brodick Castle was closed but had walk round gardens, lovely views all around. Seems to be a good public bus service going round the island.Lots of places to stop for picnics.

Caroline was a very gracious host and aims to please her guest’s needs. The sea view twin room was spacious and very comfortable with a modern ensuite. The snug/common room is a nice touch for those wanting to prepare light meals or enjoy takeaways. The cooked-to-order breakfast was satisfying and and served with flair!

Tips:

The day rover pass on the local buses is a great way to see the entire island, Stops are possible but buses only run every 2-3 hours. The Arran distillery at Lochranza is a worthwhile tour stop, then walk back to the village to see the old castle and catch the bus there. Fisherman’s Walk to the grounds of Brodick castle is mostly on level ground and worth doing. (note Castle is closed for balance of 2018) The local Heritage museum is very good with a quaint cafe.

Love the Hunters Guest house and Caroline and Debbi. So happy to spend another great holiday at the Hunters. It is our fav place in Arran to go to whenever we can get away. It's more like going home. Great rooms, breakfast is amazing and the snug is so handy to use. We always feel welcomed and being on a first name bases. The guest house is conveniently located in Brodick where you can find everything you need. This time we also took my daughter, her husband and their five month old baby and they loved it to. Caroline was so accommodating too. Thanks for having us again and hope to see you soon. Debbi and Gus

Tips:

So many to mention! Chocolate factory, Fiddlers, The Brodick restaurant and bar, cheese factory, Arran aromatics, Jannies cafe, all the wee shops,, Lamlash and the Holy Isle and the all round the isle bus just to name a few. Plus all the wonderful hikes.

Pretty, well kept guest house. Friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us. We requested something that wasn’t on the breakfast menu and it was no problem. Nice communal lounge/dining area with cooking facilities for those who didn’t want to go out for a meal.

Tips:

Plenty of lovely walks. We hired a car and drove to other parts of the island for walks. No problems parking. Beautiful scenery. Ate at the Ormidale and Fiddlers. Recommend both.

I cannot fault our stay. The room, ensuite & food was excellent. The view - from room 2 - was fabulous out onto Brodick Bay & the Goatfell range! Every staff member was warm & wonderful- I had just found out my mam had died & they were so caring & kind.

Tips:

We had lovely lunches - great food - from the happiest servers ever in the Little Rock cafe. A super evening spent eating good food & listening to grand musical entertainment from ‘the fat man & the angel ‘ at the fiddlers too.

Very helpful from booking to leaving. Warm welcome and comfortable stay. The room is lovely, with a views across the sea. We particularly loved the bathroom.

Tips:

Head to Lochranza and do the approx 8 mile circular walk. Stunning views, loads of deer and stags to keep you company. Debbie's advice on the route was really helpful and her top tip to return on the south of the island so although we had a short stay we travelled the whole island. Brodick Castle is well worth a visit, the grounds offer great walks and the wooded garden and grounds are beautiful. Great walk along from the Hunters Guest House and via the Fishermans Walk along the coast.

Absolutely fabulous, need I say more, I cannot rate this high enough and if half the people I have told about Hunters Guest House turn up to stay it will keep the girls busy or busier as they never seemed to stop and always had time for a 'Wee Blether' and a friendly wee hello for Snowie my aging Jack Russell also made very very welcome, I will certainly be back, keep up the great work.

Get out and do what you came to Arran to do, for restaurants I'd definitely say book for most to avoid disappointment, mostly have a great time.

We so enjoyed our stay in the Hunters Guest House. it is so convenient being near to the ferry and on the front. Caroline gave us such a warm welcome. We felt immediately at home. The breakfasts were superb-a great menu and beautifully cooked. The place was spotless. It had received a deep clean and was well aired as I had mentioned I had an allergy to dogs. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The only complaint-too short a stay!!!

Tips:

Caroline told us of very good restaurants. We had a lovely meal in the Brodick restaurant on our first evening. As we have a friend who lives in Brodick we spent the day with her. She took us on a tour of the islandThe shops are very near to the Guest house

Very comfortable stay at Hunters Guest House, Brodick. The guest house was ideally located for the calmac ferry terminal but also walking distance from lots of fun amenities, e.g. Crazy golf and mini golf. The guest house was spotlessly clean and decorated to a high standard. Also, we enjoyed a lovely Scottish breakfast. The host Caroline, was very warm and welcoming.

Tips:

We had booked a meal at Fiddlers Music Bar and Bistro prior to our stay on Arran as we had a feeling that the island would be busy with the schools still being on holiday. A brilliant stay at Hunters for 2 nights. Caroline is so welcoming. Close to the ferry, the town and all its amenities. A very cosy place to stay, the room was great, as was the breakfast. The addition of "the snug" - where you could relax, make a drink and chat to other guests in the evening is a super idea. Lots of information and brochures available to cover anything going on across the island. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Hunters to anyone (which we have already done).

It has exceeded my expectations tbh. The view from right outside is amazing, the little complimentary biscuits next to the kettle are a nice touch; there's a bottle of bath soak in the bathroom so you can take a bath. Theres a comunal area to chill, read or snack, a fridge you can use and prob most of the requests you might have can be fulfilled. I asked for honey and I got given a separate jar just for myself :)

Tips:

Take earplugs Take your morning coffee outside on the bench and enjoy the breathtaking view

Beautiful location overlooking the beach and Goatfell! The room was spacious, light and bright and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. Bathroom was large and clean with lovely fluffy towels and plenty of added extras! Our host was super friendly and made us feel most welcome from the minute we arrived and showed us round the house and the additional guest lounge area. We had a fantastic stay at Hunters and will be back the next time we are in Arran for sure! Thank you to everyone who made our stay so great!

Tips:

Not a lot of choice for evening meals on the island but we would highly recommend the Douglas Bar for a relaxed meal (and dogs welcome!) Climbing Goatfell is a must when the sun shines (dogs welcome here too! :) )

It was a real pleasure to experience Arran in the winter and I'm very grateful to Caroline for making this out of season experience possible. Thank you so much. Visiting Arran is so uplifting, and you help to make it a very homely experience. I like the balance you have so successfully created between modernity and the traditional, i.e. comfort and charm. I look forward to returning. . . . .

Tips:

Use the local buses, they are excellent and you can get round the whole island. Also, it's a way of meeting locals and experiencing island life. Just being in Nature is fantastic. It is so accessible and varied. Spend an hour or more in the local charity shop by the harbour in Brodick, it's fascinating. I'm enjoying the CDs I bought. The local bookshop / stationers has an interesting selection of books and some beautiful cards by a local artist.

Very pleasant place to stay - nothing was a hassle, staff very friendly and helpful. Room was amazing - the view takes your breath away every time you looked! Room was warm and excellent facilities available including a wee lounge to mingle with other guests and to do some self catering in the evening. Breakfast was excellent and filled you up for a day out walking, shopping or whatever you had planned.

Tips:

Try Fiddlers bar for some live music nights and food - a minutes walk from house, local co-ops nearby for food and drink for self catering. Don't forget to check that the castle is open-has a tour available! Catch a bus that does a ride around Arran -catch it early to get off at points ie for Seal watching at Blackwaterfoot or Distillery at Lochranza but make sure you dont miss connection as there is a long wait-walk ahead!! Also sit on the left of the bus to get great views across the bays - seal and dolphin spotting.

We were warmly welcomed by Caroline, and there were no problems with the room. We had the small room, which was still large enough for two people. It was relatively cold outside, but the heater made the room cosy. There is a small living room with a microwave, cutlery, and plates that we were able to use, which was very convenient. The location is perfect if you're arriving with the ferry from Ardrossan -- it's only a five minute walk from the pier. Would recommend!

Have been to Brodick before to different accomodation but remembered seeing Hunters guest house. Great location, booked the front room with sea views for 3 nights and moved to back room for 1 night. View is amazing from front room. Bathroom in back room needs improving which I think is being done in the near future. All lovely and clean. Good breakfast and staff very helpful. Would go back.

Tips:

We arrived on ferry as foot passenger and used the bus to get around. Very easy to do, buses were always on time, had lovely weather but on the dullest day we took the bus all the way round the Island ( to rest our feet! ). Lovely lunch at the Distillery, even if you don't do the Whiskey tour it's a nice visit there.Castle gardens are lovely to walk around. Arran is a great place to visit without a car as the bus takes you everywhere. Great meal at Pier Head Tavern in Lamlash ( 10 mins on bus from Brodick) and the Douglas Hotel do good food.

We had a slight hiccup with the room as if you a a big person at all you won't get into the standard shower cubical, Caroline changed us to another room but wasn't ansuite and we had to cross the landing every time we needed the toilet and my partner is up a lot through the night, this would not be my first choice but Caroline did show us room 1 and that would have been more suitable. I did when booking it months ago phone back and say the we were two large people and could not get in and out of a bath but shower over a bath would be ok but preferable a walk in shower. This would not put us off coming back as long as we got room 1. For the breakfast in the morning was really good and staff was so helpful and the day we were leaving Caroline made us aware there was ferry's cancelled due to high winds getting up, so we went and managed to get on an earlier ferry home

Well-run B/B. Excellent view. Although central, it was quite quiet. Handy for bus stop. Handy for everything in Brodick - within walking distance. Food good. Handy snug with TV, fridge, microwave, etc. Would definitely return.

Plenty of eating places within walking distance but in height of season better to try and book a table in advance. Lots of walks and beautiful scenery.

Good localization for Island travellers which do not want to change the room from day to day. We stayed 10 days on the Island and walked all around the Island from Brodick. Castle and Arran aromatics can be reached by short foot walk. For a lot of main routes in the mountains the appartment is a perfect start point. For some walks of the Arran costal way we used the bus station there and back. The bus station is nearby the appartment. The owner/staff was very polite and nice the whole time. In total it is a familiar atmosphere which we really liked. Breakfast was super. Rooms were clean and in top condition.

Sorry for the delay in replying....back to the real world! Charlie and I had a lovely stay with you and fully intend to return and next time we will book early enough to take advantage of one of your beautiful, luxurious sea view rooms. Although the room we did have was very comfortable and suited us fine, waking up to a sea view can't be beaten. We loved your very thoughtful idea of the snug-I wish more hosts would follow your lead and the option of breakfast suited us very well. The breakfast we did have however was delicious. Thanking you both again for your lovely welcome and hospitality. See you again, Frances

As a solo traveller with a young dog,I had stayed in self-catering,but not a guest house.I chose Hunters because it offered room only-I would not have had a relaxed breakfast with a dog barking in the bedroom! Also the Snug with microwave and fridge was a brilliant idea-had I been staying longer or the weather poor,it would have been a real boon.

Because Hunters is close to eating places, shops and transport,0ne can enjoy the buzz of Brodick, but easily access the much quieter parts of Arran.

Very welcoming and helpful. Great location near to ferry and facilities but not noisy.

Tips:

Food across the Isle was good standard: note particularly The Brodick Bar near to Hunters (with early bird deals but not open Sunday) and The Drift Inn at Lamlash. Trip to Holy Island from Lamlash interesting but check timetables and weather conditions for sailing first (and take toothbrush and some warm/waterproof clothing in case you cannot get back...!)

Great view from our room. We enjoyed bird watching and seeing basking sharks in the bay. We also really valued the guest's sitting room and little kitchen area - meant we could eat in rather than having the expense of eating out every night. Nice choice of food for breakfast.

Tips:

We used the bus to get around the Island, getting off, walking along the coast for a while and then catching the bus further on to get home - needed a bit of planning as they don't come that often but worked well for us.

21st August 2015:

The guest house was extremely comfortable and we enjoyed the friendliness and warm hospitality of both Caroline, the proprietor and Alison who waited at table. The breakfast main course was cooked to order, fresh & delicious, and was preceded by fruit, juice & a wide choice of cereal, cold meats & cheeses. We were in the smallest room, and had the use of an attractive sitting area called The Snug which also had tea/coffee making facilities & a microwave! Hunters Guest House was a great 'find', one which we would heartily recommend to prospective travellers to Arran--and we will be back !

Tips:

We had a light lunch on both days at Little Rock Café--good food & friendly staff. The Douglas Lounge Bar was ideal for a light meal, but to be thoroughly recommended for a special evening out is Fiddlers Restaurant which served delicious food & had entertainment in the form of an excellent folk trio (including a fiddler!). Brodick castle is definitely worth a visit--both the interior and the beautiful gardens.

Overall, I can say is Hunters is a nice place to stay, We really enjoyed our one night stay. What we found is, few lights/bulbs were not working. The Sofa is really blocking the view to sea from bed. Another one is the charging points are not easily reachable, i found one after few minutes searching and forced to disconnect the TV cable:(

Seals; Otters & so much bird life, we loved the villages too. Your guesthouse is wonderful. Our room and view were second to none. The breakfast was wonderful and Caroline could not have been more helpful. Our only comment would be that the hot water supply was very limited! Although we had the huge role top bath we never got any where near trying to get a decent depth of water. After our climb on Goatfell I just wanted to luxuriate in the tub but the water was only just warm once I had washed my hair. A bit of a disappointment but would not put us off staying again and we thought you should be aware of it!

Many thanks for your review and I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us. I had a plumber in during the week to have a look at the water situation and apparently the new tank we had fitted last summer was not sufficient to do the job! I am pleased to say we now have a new one as of Thursday so hopefully that should provide lots of hot water - fingers and toes crossed! Kind Regards Caroline

This was a perfect place to stay. The two rooms we booked had fabulous bay window views over the sea and the highest peak on the island. The rooms themselves were very spacious including settees and beautifully turned out. You wouldn't get better anywhere. The owner was great and helped us make the most of our visit. She made us feel really welcome and produced delicious breakfasts and great coffee in a lovely large breakfast room. All in all very special.

Tips:

Glen Sannox was magical and we had wonderful views even though we limited ourselves to easy walking in the valley from the coastal car park. Glanashdale Falls was magnificent with a dramatic view from a breathtaking viewing platform. Wonderful views from the north coast of Lochranza across to the western mainland. The drive across the island on the smaller single track road took us past numerous buzzards perched in trees and on telegraph poles only yards from the road.

We had a very comfortable stay at Hunters Guest House. The location was great, handy for places to eat and with lovely views from our (sea view) room. Breakfasts were excellent! Caroline and Louise were so very helpful and hospitable. And the beds were really comfy! It was super to have a 'snug' room handy, where we could make snacks for ourselves, or use it as a lounge. I would recommend Hunters Guest House as it is so welcoming and very comfortable in every way.

Tips:

We enjoyed the local Fiddlers Restaurant: their food was very good and they offer live music a lot of evenings. The Douglas Hotel also offered a good dinner. 21st September 2014:

As ever a very warm welcome from Caroline, room was excellent & very comfortable. We turned up at 9 o'clock on a Friday night after the ferry was cancelled & within 5 minutes we were settling into our room. Full marks as always from me,

Tips:

Sannox bay does the best steak pie I have ever tasted, well worth a trip round to. Huge portions & great flavours.

18th September 2014:

Only slight problem was the strength of the bedside light, difficult to read by. Otherwise this was a most comfortable and enjoyable stay, with top quality breakfast and sound advice from Caroline about where to go and what to see.

Tips:

I can recommend some of the paintings at Brodick Castle. Even amongst the few too many sporting paintings there were one or two crackers, including a prize-fight by Reinagle. Visitors to the castle are advised to ask permission to climb over the rope to get a closer look at two excellent Watteaus. And don't miss the understated but brilliant early Gainsborough of the Third Earl of Rochford, an intelligent toff by the look of it, in great contrast to the 12th Duke of Hamilton by Winterhalter, an irascible looking brat, but wonderfully captured in all his objectionableness.

From the moment we arrived to the moment when we left we were treated to genuine warmth and friendliness. Nothing was too much trouble. We would recommend Hunters Guest House to anyone wanting an enjoyable stay in a lovely place on a stunningly beautiful island.

Tips:

The 56 mile cycle run around the island is an absolute must. For those who dislike hills there are long flat sections between Brodick and Sannox, and between Lochranza and Blackwaterfoot.

Very nice place to stay with very friendly and helpful people. Rooms are cosy. The breakfast was great in an amazing room, makes you feel like a real lord or lady. And finally, stepping out of house, one may enjoy the wonderful view on the hill with brodick castle and the sea.

You may want to pay the extra for the better room. The standard room was very small. You must be under 150#s to use the bathroom facilities ( quite small and tight). But for one night it was very adequate and the owners did all they could to make you comfortable. The hot breakfast was great, the selection for the cold breakfast would have been plenty and delicious.

We loved our bedroom with the beautiful view across the water. Our host could give us lots of tips for sightseeing and eating. We were surprised how easy it was to park our car nearby.

Tips:

We only stayed two nights, and really needed at least another day to explore the island more fully.

A wonderful stay. The room was much more spacious than I expected, and the bathroom was beautifully decorated. The breakfast (we went for the continental option) was excellent and kept us going most of the day! The particular highlight was the warm welcome :-)

Tips:

We had a great dinner at Fiddlers a few doors down along the front. Good quality food, excellent service and a really good live band - so the atmosphere was wonderful. Make sure you book though, as we saw many people turned away in the evening.

It was great stay in Hunters Guest House. My Mum and I enjoyed every single bit in the guest house. There was a fabulous sea view from the window, and the shower is one of the best ones to my memory. The only thing I need to point out may be the breakfast. Since only Continental breakfast is available now, I recommend someone who is more keen to have English ones, to take your breakfast outside.
