A very warm welcome into well furnished clean and very comfortable facilities. We had to leave early for the ferry to Arran so were given a pack up instead of breakfast. The recommendation for a restaurant (next door)for dinner was great too. We were just sorry not to have been able to spend more time and bet the breakfast was great! Next time! Thank you for the great service.

From the moment we arrived at the front gate we were impressed by the Inverlea guest house. The front garden is immaculate and the house is beautifully furnished. We received a very warm welcome and were sorry we were only staying one night. Breakfast in the morning was excellent and we enjoyed the fresh fruit and well cooked hot food. We couldn’t have picked a better b&b and it was great value for money.

A great place to stay. We were cycling on NCN route 7 and this was the best B&B we sayed in. Lovely house, great welcome, spotless with excellent facilities. Ideal for the cycle route too, just a very short diversion from the route itself. Would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

Tips:

A really nice restaurant/ bar next door, we didn't need to walk far after a long day on the bike. A very short ride (5 minutes) to the Rozelle Gallery in the morning, an excellent recommendation and a lovely place to spend a morning.

We were given a very warm welcome by Liz and shown up the beautiful grand staircase to our rooms. Both rooms were a good size and had well fitted out en-suites. There were complementary teas, coffees and hot chocolates and also biscuits. There were also complementary shower gels and shampoo in the en-suite which were lovely. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of options from cereals, yoghurts and fruit to a full Scottish breakfast! Unfortunately the use of air freshener in my room aggravated my asthma and meant I needed to open the window at night which then meant I could then hear the noise from the road, other than this it was a perfect stay.

Our hostess Liz was fantastic! She had a card waiting for us welcoming us to her home and the city of Ayr. We also enjoyed some delicious wine upon our arrival, and she called the restaurant near her house to make a reservation for us for dinner. We felt so at home here. The only reason I did not give the facilities a 5 star rating was that there is no common area for guests other than the dining room where breakfast is served. But the warm hospitality and delicious breakfast was superb!

Tips:

It is very convenient to be able to walk to a close restaurant although it is very popular so reservations are recommended. Parking was on the street or in a small area behind the home. The area was quaint and safe. Loved our hostess Liz!

Inverlea was a great place to stay. We were warmly welcomed by Liz and truly enjoyed our stay. We wished it could have been longer. The accommodations were excellent and the breakfast delicious.

Tips:

Upon Liz's recommendation we had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel next door and it was very good. The highlights of our visit to Ayr (aside from the accommodations) were a visit to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, which is very well done, and the Culzean Castle & Country Park, which is spectacular and was our "first" castle visit on our Scotland tour and one of our favorites. Each one is so different!

Upon arrival we were made to feel extremely welcome and the greeting was very warm and pleasant, the lady of the house whose mane is Liz was extremely pleasant, took us to our room and showed us the amenities in our room, Liz then offered us a glass of wine and a shandy for myself with compliments of the proprietors, breakfast was superb and nothing was to much trouble for them to do in the kitchen there was fresh bottle water put in the room each day also fresh milk and biscuits and teabags so nothing to dislike about The INVERLEA GUEST HOUSE so i would recommend the Inverlea to all my friends and family, I will certainly be going there again thank you Liz and all your staff for a very pleasant stay

Tips:

A couple of restraunts to try out are the Waterfront by the harbour especially the two courses £10 but you have to be there before 6 o'clock also Cafe 51 nice light bite type of place as they do Pizzas,Pasta,Burghers and other similar food but very nice place only about 10 minutes walk from guest house the other place is about 15/20 minutes walk. plenty of sites to see nice quaint villages also so well worth visit to this part of Scotland

Lovely and welcoming family home B&B. A nice surprise to be welcomed with an offer of glass of wine or beer for our first visit. Room decor was to a high standard and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in! The only downside was I was far too hot in the big marshmalowey duvet. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We were a short stop over to visit for a party but would highly recommend for an Ayrshire stay. Shower pressure was low and breakfast window was short with quite an early checkout I would say were my only small issues, but didn't detract from a great overnight. Great value for money.

21st October 2015:

We received a very warm welcome from Liz on our arrival & were escorted to our lovely room which had everything you could possibly want. It was immaculate with extra touches eg. magazines & numerous toiletries. The room was warm & comfortable & the bed was cosy with perfect bedlinen, everything tastefully decorated. It would be impossible to fault anything about Inverlea. All the staff were very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was set in a room overlooking the garden & provided everything you could imagine from a Scottish breakfast. Liz very kindly drove us to the wedding reception venue & recommended a choice of eateries for the night of our arrival. We had a very happy stay & will definitely be back for longer next time. Thank you for your hospitality.

Tips:

We had an excellent meal in a lively nearby bistro XX11 & did not have to book our table. The food was delicious & just what we wanted that evening. As we were visiting for a wedding, we didn't have any time to visit any of the sights but, as the wedding was in Alloway, would like to visit there next time to investigate the Burns heritage sites.

Undoubtedly the place to stay if visiting Ayr. This guesthouse sets a standard so high that it puts many hotels to shame. From the moment you open the front gate everything is just perfect. Cannot think of enough superlatives to describe this guesthouse.

Tips:

Looking for somewhere to eat then head for The Carrick Lodge restaurant just a couple of doors up from Inverlea. Excellent varied and reasonably priced menu, professional, friendly service make this understandably one of the top rated restaurants in Ayr. Would be worth taking a cheap return rail deal to Ayt just to visit this restaurant again.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful throughout our 6 day stay at Inverlea. By the end of our holiday we felt we had made new friends with Liz, Douglas and the 'A' Team, not forgetting young Max, who was chatty and friendly to us too.

Tips:

Liz was extremely helpful in advise regarding places to eat for an evening meal - we went to the Carrick Lodge Hotel, almost next door to Inverlea, four evenings and had different meals each time that were all 'heaven on a plate' superb. Definitely recommended. We also had a short walk two evenings to Catch 22, which was very good, upbeat atmosphere, lovely meals. Then decamped across the road to Harry's Bar - great place for a drink! Visited the Robert Burns attractions - all brilliant. Booked the ferry (car as well) and had day out to Isle of Arran - beautiful place. Also visited historic Castle Culzean, really interesting.

We also got to park the car of the road which was also a bonus. Liz recommend somewhere for us to eat and we would get a discount of our meal. The bed was so comfy and we both had a great sleep. Liz was there for breakfast. She spent time with us asking how our night was and if we slept well. The breakfast was great. To classify the Inverlea as a Bed and Breakfast conjures up an inaccurate preconception. I have stayed in 4 star hotels which were inferior to Liz's high standards. A very clean, welcoming and comfortable room. Not to mention an excellent breakfast.

Tips:

We were in Ayr for a wedding at The Brigodoon Hotel, which is right beside the Robert Burns Memorial. It serves excellent food and has beautiful gardens. Ayr itself has some beautiful clean beaches and a small but well catered for town centre. We ate at The Treehouse in the town centre which served good food at an affordable price. The Inverlea was perfect for us as we were attending a wedding in Brig O'Doon. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. Our room was lovely and the house itself was very homely. Breakfast was very nice, having the choice of a full scottish, eggs, cereals, and supplied with endless toast. The service was faultless, from the owner and her children. Would definitely stay here again.

Tips:

Burns Cottage is within walking distance and with the beautiful surroundings is a very pleasant walk. I would recommend walking through Poet's Path and a trip to Brig O'Doon for a gorgeous meal. The setting is simply stunning.

Inverlea is one of the best guesthouses we have ever stayed at. The atmosphere is wonderful. The rooms are beautifully decorated. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful.

Tips:

If you enjoy Indian food, it is only a short drive to "Ayr India" which is located on the beachfront. Culzean Castle is worth a visit. It is positioned on a cliff overlooking the sea. As well as exploring the castle and surrounding buildings, there are lots of walks through the grounds.

1st August 2013:

I received a very warm welcome and was given a very spacious room on the top floor. Although the bathroom was shared with two other rooms it did not present any problem and was very well appointed with an excellent shower. The breakfast was very good and served in a pleasant environment with the benefit of being able to admire a well kept garden. The hosts showed a general interest in their guests and I enjoyed my stay and plan to return. Everything was very clean and well cared for.

Tips:

I had an enjoyable meal with excellent service at Chestnuts which is a ten minute walk away or a short drive. There is a lot to do in Ayr including theatre, multi screen cinema, bowling both indoors and outdoors, good shopping, lovely coastal walks and a number of other attractions a short drive from Ayr including Culzean Castle which is well worth a visit.
